Invisalign

Invisalign is what is considered "invisible braces." It is a way to align teeth and to improve smiles by getting teeth into their proper positions, and is done with a series of trays that a person wears. These trays, otherwise known as clear aligners, go from where you are currently at, and then through a computerized system, the trays change gradually to help move teeth to their ideal locations.

At your first Invisalign appointment, we take some photos, impressions, and a computerized projection of how the teeth will move, step by step, so the patient can see what the finished results will look like. Once agreed upon, we go ahead and order the aligners, and educate the patient on how to put them in and place them. Every two weeks, the aligners change. It is essential that we see our patients approximately every six weeks, or every three aligner changes. This allows us to check up on them periodically to make sure they are complying and that everything is moving and shifting as expected. It is as simple as that.

Invisalign trays are taken out when individuals eat, but are worn the rest of the time, even when sleeping. It has been my experience that they are very easy to get used to and have not been a problem for individuals using them.

There are many benefits of Invisalign over traditional metal braces and orthodontia, including the fact that they typically work faster, and are clear--which means that many individuals do not even notice that you are wearing the aligners. This makes it a great alternative for adults who are in an office environment and want to avoid the stigma that comes with traditional metal braces.
